Wow where did that week go???

Todays card which I am going to share with you is a Lili of the Valley one.

This is a 6x6" card blank.

Both the papers are from First Edition Boho Chic.

The Image is Fairy and Bumble Bee from Lili of the Valley.

Coloured with Promarkers.

Inked through the die with Distress Inks.

Die cut with Nesties Labels 26.

Flowers and leaves from Wild Orchid Crafts.

I would like to enter this card into this weeks Lili of the Valley Challenge.

Also this weeks The Cutie Pie Challenge.

John Glossop

Good Morning

Over the weekend I was lucky enough to go on a workshop run by the talented John Glossop at the Stamp Pad. On this workshop we made a book type box. Or a Box type book depending on how you prefer it.

This first photo shows the front of the box/book. 

The whole project was made from 2mm Greyboard which had been scored through so that it would crease to form the corners.

We also cut some greyboard to form the frame and two end panels.

The greyboard was put through an embossing folder and tehn painted first with white paint and then with some runny blue paint to highlight the embossing.

 The rest of the greyboard was also painted with white paint and then had a wash of blue paint over the top.

The piece of greyboard in the middle was painted white, the lady stamped on it. 

Then we, very carefully painted the outside with gold paint. 

When this was dry we triple embossed it with clear powder to gice the shine.

Inside the 'book' we used different stamps and colours of distredd inks to create a  'collage' effect.

This is a great technique as it doesn't matter if your stamping isn't perfect.

The two insides of the 'side' pieces were covered with torn pieces of printed tissue and attached with melted beeswax, the beeswax also gives a different finish.

On the back inside page we used the Bind-It-All to make a notebook.

Oops Another One

Good Morning

Todays Card is another card made using the Glass gels. I thought I had pictured it on yesterdays post, but it must have escaped :)

This one is a DL card. The paper is an old one, but still gorgeous.

 The die cut floursih is one of the new range of Dies from Crafts Too. 

We used the glass gel in the middle of the flowers and as accents on the flourish.

We then tied ribbon around the card and then tied a knot in it.

We then used the glass gels to squeeze faux pearls in each corner.

Although this is quite a simple card, I think it is quite effective.

Cards using Glass Gels

Good morning

Earlier this week I went to a workshop run by the uber talented Gwen at The Stamp Pad, in Saddleworth. This workshop was not one I would have rushed out t book on as I thought that glass gels were only for use on Glass! Oh my word, how wrong was I?

We spent the evening exploring the different things you can do with these wonderful gels. First of all we practised making a row of pearl like dots. These gels are great for this, and it means that you can always colour coordinate your work.

Then we stamped a Daffodil image (from Stampendous) and using the gels coloured the image in. It took a bit of practice But you can get some very different effects. If you only use a small amount, you get a light covering. However if you use a fair amount it becomes quite vibrant and dimensional.

We then played with the gels through a stencil. You have to be quite quick with this as you need to wash the stencil very soon to stop the gel sticking to the stencil. We found that you have to be very methodical with this or you can soon get into a mess :)

We then stamped a sentiment onto white card, scribbled different colours of glass gel onto acetate and, using rubber gloves, tapped into the gel to move the colours around. Because the gel is very tacky before it drys, we then struck the acetate over the stamped image. This became a topper on our card. This also means that everything can be colour coordinated.

Yet again I have gone to a workshop without knowing exactly what we will be doing and come away completely inspired. If you're in the area why don't you see if there is space on a workshop and come along.

A Mini Book

Good Morning 

Today I would like to share with you a mini 'Filofax' type binder. 

This is a Hot Of the Press Sarah's Binder which has been covered with papers from the Kioshi Range by Basic Grey.

Everthing in the Binder, pager, pockets, dividers came in the pack with the binder.

More Fathers Day

Good Morning

Well today I would like to share with you the rest of the cards I made up using the die cut toppers I found during my tidy up.

 Again all the cards have been made using 7x5" card blanks.

This card was quite simple to make. The checked paper was cut and matted onto the blue cardstock Then the decoupaged image was also matted onto the same blue card stock.

There is room for a sentiment at the bottom if needed.

 This second card was also very simple. The stripy paper was matted ontothe blus bazzil card. The I die cut a Nesties Labels 11 to put the topper onto.

Again there is room for a sentiment if needed.

For this card I really was using the scraps :) So I die cut a nesties Labels 11 from the stripy paper and then the next  size up from Kraft brown card. Then I matted a long thin strip onto Kraft brown (I had run out of the blue card !) from my bit box. Stuck this down the left hand side. 

Matted a rectangle of the checked paper also onto Kraft brown and placed this just below half way. I then attached the topper onto the stripy nestie and then onto the Kraft brown Nestie. 

As I had no more Forever Friends toppers left, I used a Tatty Ted one instead.

Then I added 6 brown Card Candi's to the card in the corners.

My last Forever Friends Topper was a square one and didn't fit onto a 7x5" card. 

So with this one I used a 6x6" card blank. By now I had run out of both the stripy and checked papers.

 So I used a sheet from First Edition Boho Chic. This had a fabby wood effect on it and seemed just right for the image. I matted this onto some scraps I had of the peachy/pink paper from the same pad. Again I used strips of the same papers to make the added detailed strips on the left hand side and across the bottom.

To finish I added 3 candy dots top left and bottom right.

There is room for a sentiment if needed later.

Fathers Day

Good morning

Following on from yesterdays post about using up your leftover papers from your scrapbooks, today I would like to share with you another idea I had recently.

Whilst tiding my craft room recently I came across a folder with a lot (lot) of die cut decoupage which I had sat, cut out and made up over the dark winter months. So I challenged myself to use only cardblanks, one colour of Plain cardstock and one or two patterned papers to make all six cards up. All the toppers were Forever Friends Male toppers, so that helped as I knew they would all go with the same papers.

I decided to use 7x5" card blanks for all of the cards as the toppers were quite big and overwhelmed an A6 card.

In this first picture I matted the checked paper onto the blue bazzil cardstock. Then I die cut the same paper with a nesties labels 11, and then matted this onto a larger die cut from the same blue card.  There is room for a sentiment, but not sure what I am using it for yet so haven't put that on.

For this next card I kept things very simple, I matted the stripy paper onto the blue cardstock and put onto the card. Then I matted the decoupaged image onto the same blue card.

Again there is room for a sentiment at the bottom if needed.

For the last card today I matted the checked paper onto the blue cardstock as a base. I then matted the decoupaged image onto the same blue card.

Then with the narrow (1/4") strips of paper I matted these onto a 1/2" strip of blue card and placed them along the bottom and down the right hand side.

This card was then finished off with three blue candy dots top left and bottom right. 

Again there is space for a sentiment.

Pop back tomorrow for the rest of the cards made.
