Cards. How much to charge?

Hi

I have been blog hopping recently and found a couple of blogs where the owners sell their cards. Now I don't know about you, but I always find it difficult to say how much I want for a card. I don't want to be too expensive in case they never want another card from me, then again I don't want to be so cheap that it ends up costing me to make the card.
Anyway I have come across this blog, with prices for cards that to me seem extortionate. I know how much time and effort goes into some cards but I still feel this is just WAY too much.
This is the blog I am talking about.

I was just wondering what everyone else feels about this. I would appreciate your comments even just to set my mind at rest that I am not undercharging.

Thanks

  1. Oh. My. God.

Have you been to the jewellery page on that website? She charges LESS for her jewellery than her hand made cards. Which, by the way, I feel are extortionate prices. And then to have the cheek to charge postage on top of that!!! What I'd really love to know is how many cards she's actually sold at that price. Yeah, I'd charge that much for a card, but it'd be an A5 star card, not a 6x6 square! Max I'd charge for that size is £5 - any more than that and you'd price yourself out of the market.

  2. I must admit I have a problem with pricing things, but I think that some people have a problem wanting to pay for them, I'm making some stuff for a friends wedding, it's cost me £78 so far without anything for my time, I'll be interested to see what other people think on the subject of how much to pay for hand made items.

  3. I was told add 50% to what it cost you. Sadly I have not been able to find a market for my cards, unless they have been commissioned. Good Luck

  4. I don't sell my cards as I have only been crafting for about 14 months, but I would find it difficult to charge over £5 for a card, unless it was an A4 jobbie.
